NFL AND CBS PARTNER FOR THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL - On Wednesday, the NFL’s Roger Goodell announced an agreement made with CBS to air Thursday Night Football on the countries biggest network. CBS will air 8 early season games, and NFL network will air the last 8 games of the season leading up to the playoffs.
Along with the expansion of TNF, the last two games will be aired on Saturday night, something that has not been done for years. All 16 games will be produced by Jim Nantz and Phil Simms.
"NFL Network built Thursday into a night for NFL fans," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. "Our goal is to bring these games to more fans on broadcast television with unprecedented promotion and visibility for ‘Thursday Night Football’ on CBS."
Thursday Night Football is about to become a lot more interesting. 8 games will now be played on prime time television, so expect to see some competitive match ups the first 8 weeks of the new network agreement.
